- The grand dedication of our new Ransom P. Essex Park. Mayor Scott Wittbrodt and County Executive Jim Barcia spoke eloquently about our community; Reverend Dennis DeMott graced us with a beautiful blessing; a wonderful rendition of the National Anthem was sung by our founder’s descendant, 11 year-old Gabby Duso; and another of our founder’s descendants, 11 year-old Ransom Kurzer, unveiled a beautiful plaque in honor of his great5 uncle.
- 99 runners participating in the Kids Fun Run and 5K Run & Walk. Winners were Will Clark and Emily White, and every youngster who completed the Fun Run led by 2018 Garber State 800m Champion, Josiah Morse.
- A parade full of Sesquicentennial enthusiasts winding through the city streets with a throng of cheering onlookers. According to fire fighter Terry Bouchard, who was driving our Grand Marshal, 11 year-old Ransom, in our brand new 2018 Spartan fire engine at the head of the parade, Ransom was heard saying, “This is the best day ever!”
- A classic car show with an array of vehicles. Owners stood by ready to share stories about their prized possessions, and later cruised through town.
- Youngsters learning the history of our community and Garber High School while touring our lovely Essexville Heritage House.
- Our Essexville Lions Club members serving delicious ice cream sundaes to kids of all ages.
- Tasty sandwiches, hot pretzels, snow cones, popcorn, French fries, hot dogs, pizza, and so much more from an assorted group of gracious food vendors.
- Young daredevils running, jumping, sliding, and laughing through three towering inflatables.
- Awe-inspiring balloon monkeys, jet packs, unicorns, and octopuses and elaborate temporary tattoos that made every child smile.
- Kids squealing in delight and triumph after catching a fish in the river or winning a prize during the Kids’ Fishing Tournament.
- Families enjoying a beautiful evening listening to a variety of music by Sarah Schingeck, Pair of Aces (and friends), and the Scott Baker Band. These Essexville-based bands were clearly thrilled and proud to be performing in front of a hometown crowd.
